So I have been snooping around here for quite some time...starting to feel a little creepy.
Shopping for jeans is an emotional thing for me. 80$ and one hour. Wow what a feat(sp)! The only jeans that fit me right are Silvers. They are a little pricy but i wear the heck out of them for usually a year at least, wearing them like 4 days a week, washing occasionally but "fluffing" them in the dryer every day. (pretenda wash)
I always think Gap jeans fit people so cute but they seem to always fit me funny in the crotchel region... Im 5'11" so the length is always an issue. (any insight on long jeans folks?)
If i was you i would spring for the cutest pair ever (your a size six! Rejoice and be glad!!)and have them feel a little snug when you get them (morning jean stretches have to burn calories right?) Plus you may be able to find two pair for your budget..bonus. American eagle is cheap and good as well, they have lots of washes, and styles. Plus if you find a pair in the store and they are a size funky, or legnth and they dont have what you want in stock you can order them from online (when in the store) and they will ship them to your house for FREE!

I may be too late to weigh in, but regarding the size, the key is to check the tag for the material. If there is 2% or more Spandex (or stretchy material) then buy them tight as they will stretch significantly after the first wear. Not so much tight around the waistband, as the doubling of cloth will prevent much stretching over time, but definitely in the bum and thighs.

I say take the $80 and buy TWO pair of decent jeans. Knowing the boys, something may spill/tear/etc on your new jeans. In this case, you'd have a backup pair.

But then again, if I had your size-six booty, I might fork over the cash for some designer threads! ;)

I would run over to Macy's and browse the sale rack, so I could purchase TWO pair of jeans instead of one. Probably Calvin Kleins and/or International Concepts or whatever that brand is.

They would be a slightly bit stretchy (just a teeny bit!), and tight enough that they show off my new weight watchers figure, but loose enough to allow for washing shrinkage.

my absolute FAVORITE jeans are silver jeans - the best place to shop for jeans (if you have it in your neck of the woods) is The Buckle. they have a ton of different brands and styles. tell one of the salespeople what you're looking for, and you'll be sure to find it there.

i wash mine about once a month (unless they get something funky on them) and they last about 2 years. i spend between 75-100$ per pair, and, if you really love them, you only need one or two pairs.

to make them last longer, wash inside out, don't wash them everyday, etc. and never ever put them in the dryer.

I scrounge up another twenty bucks and go to the Nordstrom Rack in Sugarhouse where I bought all three pair of my Sevens for $100. That or Down East, where they sometimes have Sevens and Big Stars and Luckys and they sometimes have nothing... but it's always worth a shot since their jeans only cost $30-$50!

I love my Sevens... I have no butt and yet somehow, by some miracle, they make it seem as if I DO have one!

I am no longer a local to UT, but having spent a fair amount of time there during my extended stay in college I am kinda champion shopper ini SLC. I know it is a bit of a drive for you but you can't beat the Nordstrom Rack in sugarhouse it is one of my favorite place to shop and I always make time for it when I am back in town. They have a great jean selection you won't be disappointed...usually. You could always call and ask when the next truck is coming and plan that way too. Also for future reference they sell workout clothes, WOOT!

Citizens have always been my favorite. Sevens are too low rise for me. If you live near an Off Saks 5th avenue they always have awesome prices on designer jeans. I got a pair of Rockin Republics there for $90 recently. If you are looking for a cheaper pair Old Navy has some nice new styles the only problem being they stretch out really fast when wearing and you have a saggy butt (this is when designer jeans are preferable).
When buying any jeans I try to buy them tight but its hard to believe they will really stretch that much sometimes but they usually do! Good luck!

No, I don't have any designer jeans currently. I've been pregnant or trying to lose baby weight for the past four years, and before that, I don't remember designer jeans being that big a deal.

I am planning on splurging on a pair when I get to my goal weight. But I will look for a deal. We have Saks Fifth Avenue outlet near my house, and they have tons of 7's, joe's and paper cloth and denim. If that doesn't work, we also have outlets for Lucky Brand and True Religion. I am hoping to find some I love. :)

Well you probably don't have this where you are but if it's a need to buy situation I go to Warehouse One (the jean store) and go to their shelf of everything. They've got 40 styles under $40 or something like that. I'm not sure about the 40 styles, they must count men's and kids as well.

I usually buy my jeans a bit too tight because I'm always thinking that I'm shrinking and they'll fit soon. I have changed that philosophy lately as it took me 4 years to wear a pair of jeans for the first time. They usually last about a year, of course depending on size fluctuations. If they're in my bigger size then they last less long (?) because they wear through on the inner thigh/crotch. One of the many joys of having lost weight is that it doesn't happen any more! woot!

Way out of my league. I am more of an Aero or American Eagle type gal. You know 39.99. I think GAP jeans are a little old fashioned looking. Just my opinion of course. Actually the last pair I bought were from Macy's and they were Liz Claiborne jeans. They were on clearance for like $29.99. Talk about old fashioned. Whatever. Sorry, I'm not very helpful.

I'm a Gap / Old Navy girl myself, but once I hit my goal weight I do plan on dropping a pretty significant wad of dough on a pair of designer jeans -- I figure that after 5 years and 100 lbs, I'll have earned them, and of course, that's motivation not to REGAIN weight.

And that said, I think you should do the same. I mean, these are going to be your size 6's, right?!?! That you've worked so hard for!? The entire tagline of your blog revolves around fitting into these jeans. I'd say they are worth the investment. You've earned it, way to go.

I buy gap jeans on sale because they fit my body and are made SHORT for me. Woo hoo. They can be around 20-125, but I try to only get them when they are under $50. I have several pairs that I still wear that I bought about 4 years ago, so they have held up. I also bought a pair of banana republic jeans on sale about 4 years ago that I wear at least 2 times a week and they have held up amazingly. I tend to like all my jeans very loose fitting, so i prob would just buy ones that fit so I could hope that after all my hard work they will become as loose as I want them to get.
