President of Poor Eating

Let's just see how vitamin and mineral deficient we can get in a days food, shall we? This is what I ate today:

Breakfast: Frosted mini-wheats

snack: cookies

lunch: hot dog, cookie

snack: cookies

dinner: Little Ceasar's Hot n'Ready cheese pizza, 3 pieces.

Nice. Let me just say my day started out with a call to poison control which ended up with a day in the ER (in case you're wondering, he's just fine). Tuesday is the new Monday.

If it makes you feel better, my nutrition teacher at the university always told us that cold cereal is the savior of the American diet. She said that the only reason Americans aren't dying of vitamin and mineral deficiencies is because we are addicted to cold cereals that are crammed with added v&m. In fact, she said that unless you eat a healthy, well-balanced diet during the day, it is better to eat sugary cold cereal for breakfast than oatmeal or something like that, because the oatmeal isn't fortified (okay, unless you do the sugary packets). Funny, huh? Just to make you feel better. When I was two I ate a whole bottle of Tylenol. My mom died. Lets just say ER and ipecac. :)

OMG I'm glas to hear the littles are okay!
Um, did I share my food with you without knowing? Your menu slightly resembles my whole last few days!

Oh, please tell Molly to check my latest blog post (she has access too right?). It has to do with lettuce wraps and ever since her post about hiding in the bathroom to finish them off I think of her whenever I hide what I'm eating from my husband LOL. But I found some great lettuce wraps and they might work for her.

at least it wasn't the whole pizza! And I agree with Karen's comment. You're as hilarious and clever as ever!

Oh no, what a stressful awful-sounding day! Glad everything is all right, but if there's any perfectly legitimate excuse for eating crap it's an emergency hospital visit.

The problem is it's hard to even enjoy the junk under those circumstances.

Glad everything turned out all right, but, dang, sorry you had to go through it.

You know I had a funny feeling about your lack of post this morning and almost sent you an email.
I'm glad it turned out all right and I'm sorry you surely had a terrifying morning!

Yikes! I've made a few of those Poison Control calls myself. The most recent was actually for ME when I was pregnant and meant to take a Tylenol, but instead took my son's ADHD medicine.

I'm so glad your son is ok and you are ok. A whole day at the ER is really stressful.

Yep, I understand those kind of eating days. Thank goodness for the cereal, as the previous poster said. And cheese pizza is better than, say, pepperoni or sausage. You got some good calcium, at any rate!

Oh no! I remember when my son was about 2 and I thought that he at the mercury part of the themometer. I was throwing up sick and while I was getting sick he decided to play with the themometer. I came downstairs and the thing was broken and he was sucking on the broken part of the themom. I FREAKED. After the trip to the ER, the full body exrays etc. nothing was found. I got back home and found the broken part in the bottom of the themom. container. That was the last time I ever bought one of those old fashioned themoms. OY! Scary.

Yikes! It's amazing how often you have to call poison control with boys. I have it on speed dial. Sorry your call ended up with y'all at the ER. That is the worst. Glad he is ok.

I am cracking up at "Tuesday is the new Monday." I am definitely using that one!

The nutrition may have been bad, but it doesn't look like you did too badly on the calories, so that's good!

Some days, I bet I could beat you!

That's interesting what Janae says about the cereal. Maybe I should pick up a sugary-cereal habit? :)

I'm glad everything was okay with the poison control!

oh no! Poison control??? I hope everything is fine. Stress is the worst for my eating, although I tend to NOT eat when I'm stressed.

So sorry to hear about the ER...scary! I'm glad he's okay, though. And you deserve some pizza every now and then, girl! You look great!!!

Katieo: Sounds like a President's Day you soon won't forget. I had a weekend very similar food wise but I didn't have the stress of an emergency room visit. All in all, thank goodness the little ones are okay.

I hope everything is ok with your dad! Regarding your day's diet, I just finished off a day of cereal, healthy fruit and nuts, and steamed broccoli and chicken breast with half a dozen pieces of Godiva. Now I am sitting here steeped in regret. And I don't even have a good excuse, like the stress of the ER.
I really enjoy your blog! Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Small world,

I was in the ER with my boy today too. EVERYTHING goes to pot when you have a family crisis. My three year old was playing on the computer probably for longer than he was off today. Tomorrow is a new day.

Jeez, I don't read your blog for three days and someone ends up in the ER. THIS is what happens when I take a break from blogging!

So glad everybody is ok. If it makes you feel any better my mom spent numerous in the emergency room and on the phone to poison control when we were little. Mostly because my brother was constantly eating things like wild mushrooms and bleach.
