Update: Cookie Party was a HIT! Although I made enough homemade frosting that I now have a year's supply...I only ate 2 cookies and a pinch of dough. Very happy with that. (The picture is of some of the kids with whipping cream sprayed into their mouths. They couldn't believe that I would allow that!)
Update: Katie looks FAB!
Update: I feel like the little train, "I think I can! I think I can!" My home just cleared out 16 extra bodies over the holidays (that had the stomach flu circulating through them all). I cooked for 20. When you're cooking for the many, the mindframe is fast and easy - the last thing you are thinking is healthy. You don't have one extra spare minute for "how many points do I think this is?" So I just enjoyed the holidays with my husbands tribe of a family.
Goals: I'm going to be more realistic. I realized that I set WAY to high of goals and then when I don't accomplish them in the timeframe I've allotted, it is way to discouraging-I plummet quickly. So, this year I'm setting shorter, more obtainable goals. The 1st one being: I'm joining Corinne's fit camp! Although I do have a gym membership, it's hard to always go. Corinne offers solutions and workouts from home. I've watched Katie hobble around moaning and her have a weightloss after being at a plateau for 3 months and it made my mind start thinking. I'm bored at the gym. I can't run yet because of my hips and I'm just bored. Bored. Bored. I'm very analytical when it comes to exercise. I want to know how far, how much I've improved, at what speed, etc. Corinne just spells it out for you. You can download a bunch of info - PERFECT for me to read! Also, she has a very upfront personality - we should get along great! I need someone to say, "No, actually, you're NOT right" or whatever she says! Anyways, Katie gets soooo excited when she talks about it (just as about as excited as when she talks about the blog) and I think mixing it up will be a good start for 2008.
I wish I could say run 1/2 marathon but I do think it is unrealistic because of my hips. I'm just going to commit to 3 days cardio and 3 weights. Consistency is the word for me this year. Also, I'm going to break my mindset. I'm one of those sickos at the gym that does something for 1 hour or more. The thought of working out for 20-25 minutes HARDCORE and that's it is FOREIGN to me. I actually don't believe it. Katie is helping me.
I'm going to learn to like one more veggie and one more fruit. The selection is slim as it stands so this is a big one. My natural process is not, "Oh, I'm hungry, I think I'll grab an apple". It's "do I have any chocolate hidden somewhere?"
Last, but not least - I'm resigning with Weight Watchers! Back to the meetings I go!

I'm with you - I don't feel like I've worked out unless it lasts an hour or so. But... the reality is.. how often do I tell myself 'I don't have time' when really, I could definitely squeeze in 30 hard minutes. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!!
I get frustrated when I set unrealistic goals, as well. Kudos for looking for goals that are challenging but work for you.
Good for you for enjoying your family and not stressing about weight. You have all year to focus on your fitness and weight loss goals. Emjoying your family doesn't happen all the time. I love the pic with everyone in their matching jammies. And the tiny, baby. awwww.
Good luck with Corinne. Can't wait to see how you like it.
Good for you for taking a step in the right direction with resigning with WW and applying with Corrine. I've taken both steps this year too, just trying to finish up my application for PNP actually. Remember, one day at a time!!
Cute pics of the family. And way to be brave dealing with 20!
If your hips don't bother you to walk, you can meet me at the mall on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday mornings at 8 am!
Yay! You will LOVE PNP!
Molly, I am so excited that you have joined PnP!! You will love it.
I LOVED the pictures of the kids, so funny. Plus the family pictures - how in the world did you get everyone still & in matching clothes at the SAME time for that? Simply amazing.
Lorie
I was waiting for an update from the cookie extravaganza!
Good luck on your goals!
You survived the munchkins! lol.
Great goals! And you sound excited to get started! That surge of motivation in the beginning is great, isn't it? Good luck!
Remove all "hidden chocolate" now :)
Looks like you had fun with the kids and the cookies!
Good luck wtih your goals.
WOW is that really like 23 little people in your house? Did their shirts have names or numbers or something. I love the matching bottoms. Great picture but I would have been hiding out somewhere if those kiddos were in my house.
I love the cookie party pic. I used to do that to my youngest sister and she loved it.
Good luck with WW and PnP!
PS
I know think of your PF Chang post whenever I go into the kitchen and sneak something that I don't share with the husband LOL.
Good on you for deciding to go back to WW's... I will too... just as soon as I can face those darn scales again!
Love the more loving and gentle look you are having on your goals this year. I’m the same way about setting high expectations that are pretty much impossible in the time I give myself to reach that expectation then I wonder why I’m angry at myself? The kid’s pictures are cute and good job on not eating a whole batch of cookie dough, you’re a stronger women then me.
I just discovered your blog -- I'm enjoying reading about your challenges and triumphs. I think you're starting the new year with a great attitude. I was Shape magazine's Weight-Loss Diary columnist in 2007 and I'd say the most important thing I learned is that living a healthier lifestyle is all about the little choices we make every day.
Good luck on your journey!
Those sound like great goals! Totally realistic. Good luck, I'm sure you can do it!
Hey Katie & Molly! Just took a quick run through your site, as suggested in Women's Health. Plan to be back to read more because I connect with everything I have read so far. Though I am not much of a gym machine person, I love your Satan Machine stories. Here in the South Western British Columbia, we have an outdoor version - the Grouse Grind (http://www.gvrd.bc.ca/services/grouse-grind.asp). It's a 2.9 kilometre (sorry, don't know what that is in mile) hike up a mountain, with an 800 metre elevation gain. And we do it after work for fun.
Y!
Happy New Years ladies! I haven't popped in for awhile so I'm not off to catch up on your posts :O)
Ahem. What's the update, Miss Molly? I am on the edge of my seat to send the WELCOME TO PNP post to the forums when I see you. Have you started? Are you doing the Fat Blasters Challenge?
