Mighty Weigh-In

[Posted by Molly]
Stand in line to give me a HIGH FIVE! That's right - a HIGH FIVE! Five pounds this week. We all know that it's probably water weight but I don't care - 5 numbers down on the scale. I'm in the groove!

I think I'm going to start posting for the month of December all of the goodies I'm turning down. Last night, at a church gathering, a hot piece of chocolate cake with icing dripping off & ice cream. The ladies were so gracious there that every time one of the servers walked by me and saw I didn't have anything in my fat fingers, they offered me this tempting treat. 4 times later I was getting mad. Finally, I grabbed a cup of water just so I could have something in my hand. Although church meetings always have good intentions, have you ever noticed you cannot have any gathering without food?!

Yay! That's a pretty nice way to start the morning. I've been comfortably plateaued for so long I think I'd have to throw a party if I suddenly saw a 5 pound loss!

Holy cow!! FIVE pounds is awesome!

And if by church meetings, you mean relief society enrichment or something similar... it's nearly impossible to have one of those WITHOUT some sort of fat filled goodness shoved in your face. It's more like how to enrich your waist line than anything else! Why do those women know how to cook so well!? HA!

Holy cow. Last night? RS Quarterly Enrichment. A freaking dessert buffet. With two kinds of punch. And probably thirty different desserts.

I am highly impressed. Not only the five pounds, but also that you turned something down FOUR TIMES. I'm good the first time... maybe two. Then I dig right in! Bad Laura.

MARVELOUS weigh-in, Molly!
When I saw you turning down that cake, I was so proud!
I was dumb enough to go without eating dinner first, so I gave in and had the dessert.
It looked like chocolate, but it was actually a gingerbready cake with a lemon sauce. Sounds weird, but it was really good. I can't believe I threw almost 1/2 of mine away! I never do that.
Anyway, it was good, but saying "no" was better! Lack of self-loathing is better than dessert any day.

BTW, your fingers are not fat. :)

Your will power is amazing! I don't think I could have turned that down. I'd might have only eaten half but I'd have eaten some of it. And 5 lbs.? Way to go!! Water weight or not it's still awesome!

Congrats!

No matter if it's water weight, it's still one helluva motivator and piece of good news. :)

Awesome on the 5lbs, I love when I have a huge weigh in, even if I do know most of it is water weight...still feels just as good.

Wow! What a great way to get back on track. 5 pounds is 5 pounds no matter how you look at it.

I've made 16 loaves of Banana Bread so far (with more going into the oven today). They make easy Christmas gifts for neighbors and friends. I guess I'm not helping anyone that's trying to eat carefully. I'll have to come up with a better plan for next year.

I know! That totally frustrates me too! I wish they would only serve vegies or fruit, anything but chocolate and sugar sugar fat! hehe. Good for you resisting! Congrats on the 5lbs too!

I love reading you guys blog. I just barely started my fitness blog. Please check it out, it's not very exciting yet but I hope it grows into something great like yours! -Ana Lee (GoMeGetFit.blogspot.com)

Congrats on the 5 pounds!
My best Bible Study EVER (both the teaching/lessons and the non-eating) was the one this last summer/fall with a mother-daughter co-teaching it....the mom is a Lifetime member of WW and the daughter has lost over 80 pounds. We had water every week (I mean, honestly, we started at 7 p.m. and finished at 8:30 or 9 p.m. no one was going to starve during that 1 1/2 to 2 hours!) The last day, we did have a little party with cupcakes but they were served in a way that wasn't a big deal (or obvious) if you said no thank you. It was great!
