I have successfully made it through the day without eating a single piece of Halloween candy. Not even an M&M. The boys had loads o' fun and totally stuffed their faces. The gummy hamburgers were a hit, which I just find so strange. When the kids saw our candy bowl, they usually let out a, "Yessss! I LOVE these!" I was glad to feel like I didn't disappoint the trick-or-treaters; which for some reason was important to me... might have something to do with handing out nickels as a child, sorry Mom.
The only time it got really hard was when MY trick-or-treaters returned home and showed me all of their candy. My three year-old actually took out a Reeses Peanut butter cup, completely unwrapped it, and then just left it right in front of me on the couch. I just clenched my teeth and tried to really focus on what he was saying. But then a bag of Swedish Fish drew his attention away...until he saw the Dots and then, "OH Look! I got a gummy Hangaber! YESSS!" I grabbed the Reeses when he wasn't looking and ran with it straight to Aaron: "Eat this!! Must. Not. Fail!" Luckily he was very happy to oblige.
This bag is tucked away in my freezer. All the other stuff is in their buckets on top of the fridge.
and I, my friends, am going to bed tonight one proud woman.

I think I missed a previous post. You would give out nickles to Trick-or-Treaters when you were a child? Just 1 nickle? Hmmm...
Great job on avoiding the candy and I love your freezer stash. Out here in CA you could almost think of that as your emergency food kit LOL.
YOU DID IT! YAY!!!!!
Now PLEASE post more exercise demonstrations. Your planks inspired me so much but then I fell off the plank wagon. I NEED to start again. There's just somethign about seeing another regular person doing exercises that makes you know that it is possible opposed to Suzi Fitness who probably never had a weight issue to begin with. :)
Congrats for accomplishing your goal!!
Way to go!!
As for my brilliant plan to miss the trick-or-treaters... I went to the gym, got back about 7 last night and we didn't have a SINGLE kid come by. Either they all came early or they just didn't come to our complex. Well, either way, I didn't buy candy and didn't eat any either!
Incredibly admirable!! I'm glad I don't have kids (yet) so that I don't have to face the mounds of candy that you're so expertly coping with!
Yay you! you're super amazing too! (just like me!)
nice job!!! i totally would have caved for the swedish fish. good for you!
Good job Katie!!! I tried to eat just one piece, but my little girl kept unwrapping candy and then handing it to me. Not wanting to make a mess, I just popped it into my mouth. At least that was my excuse.
woohoo! good for you katie! :)
take that halloween!
Whoo hooooooooooooo.
I did it too. However I did drink like 8 blueberry vodka drinks. Yes, you read that right. EIGHT.
You are totally awesome!! I could practically smell that Reese's from here.
Katie: 1 Halloween: 0
congrats, that is no small feat!
Ladies! Thank you!! (and congrats to those of you who joined me) Sorry I won't be responding to all of you individually. It's just been one of those days where I posted and then left and was running around crazy all day (with sick kids too, waa). This is the first time I've even sat down in front of my computer and normally I get to check in now and then. And while we're talking about not having time, I'm so behind in my blog visits! Forgive me! I can't wait to get caught up!
(swizzlepop, go read the comments from yesterday, you'll probably pick up on the nickel thing. And as far as the exercise demos, don't worry I'm planning on it! If it's not tomorrow it'll be Saturday...or Monday...)
If you take all that candy out of the wrappers and keep them in an airtight container, the wrappers won't mess with your mind and you'll see the candy for what it really is. Then it will be an ugly little brown chocolate thing, less of a temptation?
