Four For the Price of One

Life Sans Scale

I've been walking around for the last couple of days desperately trying to find ways to gauge my body's progress without numbers. Do you remember that Seinfeld episode where George's pants swoosh? I feel like I'm walking around like George, going, "What's that noise?" But it's more like: "What was that? Are my thighs closer together than they were yesterday?"

or, "I can't remember...was that roll there before?" RIDICULOUS!
And although I haven't made my mind up for sure, I do think I'll let him out of the closet on Friday for a quickie weigh.

Biggest Loser

Phil's Gone. Waaaaaaa! Who am I suppose to root for now? I loved Jerry, Patty, and Phil. Uhh, Go Bob!

Who is your fav?

For the Ab Haters:

More plank! (Please remember, I am NO trainer, don't know jack about form, and am not certified in any way to be doling out exercise advice.)
video
(FYI: I'm using a paper towel under my feet.) Anyone else have some crazy planks they'd like to tell us all about? Leave a comment! Or better yet, send us a picture! The email link is in the sidebar)

Random FYI:

We've got dear friends staying with us right now, and so I have been (and will be) away from my computer for a few days. Sorry if I get behind in bloggy visits and email, I sneak them in when possible! Pictures if my Star Wars brood will be posted in the next couple of days. For those of you who care (family), and those of you who are nice enough to humor me (Crabby, and Randi) I'm hoping to finish them by Saturday.

I can't believe Phil went home. That is ridiculous! He has carried them through every single challenge and he does so great at the WIs! Craziness!

Good luck with the scale if you do decide to reunite!

Yay, pictures of costumed cuties coming!

I'm not nice enough a person to humor you, and am actually really looking forward to seeing the pictures.

My advice: the blog will always be there, hang with your peeps!

(But I'm one to talk about sneaking back to the computer...)

So you are hereby banned from Cranky Fitness commenting until your friends are long gone! Though it looks like you already sneaked in.

Have a great time and we'll all be here when you return.

I looked at my tummy last night and I swear my rolls are coming back.

I think it's post-buttertart remorse and a lack of running.

For someone who is not blogging you are maintaining quite a presence! ;)
But I know the pull of the blogosphere all too well my own self!
Go have fun... we'll talk amongst ourselves..

oh yeah those look kind of like my planks. instead of moving your legs in kind of downward dog style keep your back flat and bend your knees while sliding your feet in. (tucking them in under you) I also do that while side planking (resting on that sides forearm) great obliques exercise. I do these on my reformer which has a moving carriage but it looks like the paper towel technique mimics that.

Wow! I'm impressed with those planks!!

And I can't wait to see the pics too! Your kids are adorable.

Yowsa on the planks. Those kind are killer. I used to do that kind with my feet on an exercise ball. Never thought of the paper towel. I also heard that paper plates were good for on carpet. Now nobody has an excuse not to try them! (besides lack of will!)

I too am bummed that they sent Phil home. He carried their team---what were they thinking?!!

Your planks look great! Try doing that same move on a stability ball for more difficulty. Great fun! :)

Leave the scale away! You can do it! This is coming from someone who steps on it three times a day, but I do believe it can be evil.

I was so upset at Phil leaving. I was rooting for him to go all the way. I hate the whole stategy part of the show. I think they should get rid of the elimination by the teams and just go with the person on the team with the lowest percentage loss. It seems so wrong that the people who have worked the hardest are being sent home because they're a "threat". To me, that means the person at the end really isn't the "Biggest Loser" just the person who managed to stay under the radar long enough to not seem like a threat to the others. I hope Phil and Jerry both come back at the finale and kick their butts as far as weight loss. They both looked great on their after videos.

It's so hard for to not put everything on what the scale says. I know in my head that muscle weighs more so if the number isn't going down as much as I'd like I might still be okay, but it's hard to let go of the dependance on the scale. I'm trying to go off of how I feel and how my clothes fit.

I'm rooting for Jillians team although I don't care for any of them, I want her team to win this year. I LOVE Bob, but I have a serious girl crush on how bad ass Jillian is. I will say I was sad to see Phil go, as he was my fav on that team. I think that was a mistake.

Okay I SO love that video. I love how you smile and wave real quick! :) That was fun to watch.

I hope you post pictures of the Jedi costumes! I want to see. Have you been to Disneyland lately? I know you are in So Cal. They have a jedi training academy for kids , where they dress in the robes, and learn how to use a light saber (is that what they are called?) and then they have to fight Darth Vader . It's really cool!!

Carolyn, Thanks for the good luck wishes, and yes, Not that you ever want to see ANYONE go home, but every now and then one of your favorites goes home and it just doesn't seem fair!

Crabby, Genuine interest in my kidlets is even better than feigned interest! Thanks!
Banned from Cranky Fitness commenting? Oh the horror!

Marie. Post-buttertart remorse sounds not fun. Tummy rolls be gone! (I bet they'll magically disappear after your next run! :)

Mrs F, Thanks for the new planks! I'll try them tomorrow.

Thanks Tara (for the plank and kidlet love! :)

Randi, Paper plates on carpet? genius! Too bad there's not a paper towel type solution for lack of will eh? (I threw in that "eh" just for you)

Hi Lisa! Yeah, my pump teacher has mentioned the ball idea, the gym doesn't have enough for everyone in the class to use one, hence the paper towel. But I do actually OWN a ball, so maybe I should try it. :)

amber, lol! 3 times a day? Yours needs a break too!

Jeanne, "To me, that means the person at the end really isn't the 'Biggest Loser' just the person who managed to stay under the radar long enough to not seem like a threat to the others."

SO true!!
And as far as the scale is concerned. I have mixed feelings. I've been a little too obsessed lately, but in theory I would like to have him around just to always have an additional "check."

Sarah, Although Bob will always be my fav, every time I see Jillian I'm like, "that woman has got some cut arms!"

And sadly no. We have NEVER been to Disneyland with the kids. :( We're not quite in So Cal. More like Utah. (Did Lindsay Lohan throw you off? I saw her at my gym during her rehab stint)
I've heard about that Jedi training thing and it pains me my boys have never done it! Hopefully someday soon we'll get down there (Where there's a will there's a way, right?)

I've never heard of scale withdrawl before.

Hang in there.

Love the planks with the paper towel! I will certainly be trying that...two babies have made my abs not so good :-)

I was so sad to see Phil go home. I love Bob in a semi obsessive way...so I just want someone from his team to win now. Or my other fav is Cowboy...just something about that guy.

Enjoy your company!

WOW those planks look like they hurt! Glad you mentioned hte papertowel, for a few seconds there I was trying to figure out why it looked like you has Strawman legs. I may fall flat with these bu you make them look so easy I may have to give it a shot when no one is home.
Thanks for taking the time to video and show us!

I KNOW...I can't believe they voted Phil off! He and Jerry were my favorites!

I think it's great that you're staying off of the scale. Do you take your measurements? Besides how your clothes fit, your measurements are an excellent way to gauge your progress. You'll often lose inches and not see a loss on the scale.

Hope this helps! :)

I tried these today and your other ones. First, thank you for posting these for us to see! Secondly you ROCK! OMG you make them look so easy but they are NOT!. I did like 2 and a half of these and 3 "lazy girl abs" and that was all I could do! I nominate you the plank queen (I even said so in my blog)!
:)
