Weigh in and Other Goodies

And I'm ecstatic. I had a couple of days this week where I just really didn't want to go to the gym, but went anyway. This week I'm going to try structure my eating a little better and do some interval training (it takes less time and has helped me in the past break through "walls" with my weight loss). So there you go. How'd the racing ladies do? Anyone have good news to report?

Now onto the goodies:

I'm a sap. I almost cried when I watched this teaser.

Can't Wait!

Also, Jessica's Wednesday post over at Weight of My World was fantastic. You may as well go read the entire post, "Motivational Musings;" it's full of wisdom and motivational medicine. But I still wanted to include two of my favorite parts here:

6) Food and exercise: find what works for you. Not a morning person? Fine -- exercise over you lunch hour or after work, or even at 8 PM! Can't get off the sofa after work? Get up 30 minute early and go for a brisk walk. Don't like running? Walk. Don't like walking? Bike. Don't like exercising alone? Join a class. TRY something new. Same goes for food -- find a few breakfasts and lunches that are healthy and easy to prepare that you ENJOY eating -- no sense forcing down smoothies if you hate them, or eggs if they make you gag. Alternate between a few different breakfasts (I have about 3 that I alternate between). If you can start the day off on a great foot, food-wise... with a healthy breakfast -- the tone for you day is pretty much set. If you can add a healthy lunch on there, even better. Plan a few healthy snacks (one at 10 AM, one at 3 PM is what works for me). Don't ever let yourself get to that point of hunger where you are clawing your way through the cupboard, shoving things in your mouth. Your hunger will outweigh your reason EVERY time. Not a day goes by that I don't start my day off with SOME sort of game plan for the day. I know I've got 3 meals and 1-2 snacks. I know that I need to drink my water, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and take my multi-vitamin. I know I should get in some healthy oil. I always at least have a game plan. Often on sundays I will make a big dish that I can eat all week -- a chicken cous cous salad, for example, or a pot of gazpacho -- something I enjoy, that is healthy, and that I don't have to put a lot of thought into.

7) The best piece of advice that I can ever give people is not to get caught up in timelines. Don't set date-based weight loss goals for yourself. What's the point!? I mean, it's great to think "oh, I've got that high school reunion that I want to look great for," if that's what gets you STARTED, but in order to maintain the hard work and discipline, it has to come from somewhere else -- a true desire to be healthy and feel great, not just the vanity of showing up on ONE day in a size 6 skirt. And if you don't make that date? WHO CARES! Every day that you do this you are better off than the day before. There is no end-game, no race to the finish line... it is all about living the healthiest and best life possible... there is no better reward than the way you will FEEL.

Thanks Jessica! Have a great weekend everyone!

That video was great. I did tear up at little. Especially over the lady that wouldn't attend her husbands Christmas Party!

Thanks for posting. I already have it on my calendar!

Also, they are having a reunion show airing the week before: September 4!

Thanks Sister Skinny!

look at you chugging away (I mean that in a good way, though it does sound like your getting fat, I meant the other way!)
I don't think I get that show (we only get 3 channels) Is it online anywhere anybody know about?

Damn you, Katie. I just put on eye makeup! Wow. That was really motivating, and I'm going over to read Jessica's entire post right now.
Thanks.

Randi, I'm not sure if it's online anywhere. You can always get previous seasons from netflix or just buy them (I think) but for the current one, not sure...maybe a little research is in order.
and jessicaar, the Christmas Party got me too. And I LOVED the part where you see a clip of Bob walking and clapping,
"Mother.
Wife.
Friend."
I love this show almost as much as my tivo.

Ok, so if you are a sap for "almost" crying, what am I for bawling through the whole thing? I LOVE the Biggest Loser! I can't wait. I was also so sad for the lady who hasn't been to her hubby's Christmas party in 5 year. Bless her heart!

The part that got me was the girl who's whole family is fit and she just wants to feel like she fits in. I definitely am a sap, too.

I was 141.2 this morning. Someday, I'll hit 139.9!

Tomorrow is a big day fitness-wise. I'm running my first 5K. I've been running for about 10 weeks and think I'm sort of ready. It was funny---I told my mom I was running it and she asked, "Why?" I said, "Just to see if I can."

Anyway, you ladies have inspired me! It's not all about weight loss, it's about seeing what your body can do and being healthy. And STRONG!!

DJ! GOOD LUCK!! Please come back and tell us how it went!
and robin, I totally laughed when I read that!

Hi, Sisters. I did my 5K this morning. I finished 85th out of 95, but that's ok! I wasn't last and I ran in under 35 minutes (literally 34:59), so I met my goals. No walk breaks, so I was happy about that.

The next one is Sept. 22. I LOVE having a concrete fitness goal to work toward. Next time, 34 minutes will be the goal. (Maybe if I'm in the 130's by then I'll go faster!) I encourage anyone to run a 5K. It's really fun.

Thanks chicas -- and after being basically on the road (LA, San Fran, NYC, CHicago, back to LA, and now in Wisconsin for a nice relaxing weekend), it is time for me to get back on track and start taking my own advice! Operation: last 30 lbs + last 8 wks of marathon training starts today! (Well, really it will start in the morning whne I get home and can grocery shop and fill my sad ltitle empty fridge)

I met Jillian Michaels in Chicago a few weekends ago, and she is back for this season... she gave me lots of juicy details abotu the new season and I CANNOT WAIT for it to start!

Wow, look at all the stuff I've been missing this weekend thanks to my screwed up computer! Sister guest posts, videos, great advice--even confirmation that Spinning Classes look really freakin' hard and I should think twice before attempting one lest I vomit!

I'm just borrowing some internet access tonight but will hopefully be back up this week for real because there's too much going on here to miss!

I am so excited for the new season after watching that trailer! Did you heart not break, when you saw the lady talk about how she hasn't been to her husbands Christmas party in 5 years because she is embarrassed? Thanks for posting the trailer. It's the first time I've seen any kind of trailer for the new season.

I CANNOT wait for Biggest Loser this season! The trailor looks amazing...like Sarah...my heart just broke for that poor woman who wouldn't go to her hubby's Christmas parties ...I've been there. I've done the avoiding social functions at all costs because you're embarassed of your weight. It's no good, no good at all!
