Weight Watching or Whale Watching?

Today, I need to write down my goals because tomorrow I leave on an Alaskan cruise for one full week!!!! (Katie: don't worry, I'll still be here and Molly's actually going to try to phantom post...) The word cruise just scares me - all you can eat food. I am going with my husband's family. He has ten brothers (who are all married), and one sister. This family has a weird phenomenon. All of them are those "Oh, it must be genetics" thin ones that completely puzzle us. You know them: ripped arms without lifting weights, skinny butt that fits back into jeans when they go home from the hospital after childbirth, size 0-4 but they have never seen the inside of a gym, size 0-4 yet they order the most fattening meals at restaurants (including dessert). Well, this family has this "problem" yet it can't be genetics; they're all my sister-IN-LAWS! Welcome to size 0-6 land! My own joke with myself all year has been "Yeah, we're going whale watching and they're just going to be watching ME!" (Don't worry, I'm laughing typing this...) So, my initial "event" reason for losing weight has finally come. (At least my most shallow reason). At least it's not a bikini cruise.

So, my goals: going to the exercise room everyday on the cruise. No seconds on meals. I'm actually bringing a box of Fiber One bars. My big (wrong word) monumental goal for the week: MAINTAIN IS THE GAME.

I will try to sneak some pictures of the exercise room and my skinny relatives eating ice cream, doughnuts, fried foods - anything to back up my claims. I have watched the episode of "The Biggest Loser" going on a cruise about 3 times. Once again, if they can do it, I can too! Kate handed me some skinny jeans to take with me. I know it was supposed to be a subliminal hint for "you can do it!" and I'll take it. I am the sista to attack this head on - watch out you skinny sister-in-laws, I have come and I will overcome!

Are you REALLY going on an Alaskan Cruise? That is too cool. Supposed to be gorgeous.

Uh oh. Midnight Buffet. I am not strong enough.

Exercise room, swimming, classes, pilates, yoga, walking the decks, climbing the stairs. Bah, you'll be fine.

Don't let it ruin your trip. You only live once. Really, I don't like WW for that reason, they made me OBSESS about trips, parties, etc. Life is too short. Cut yourself a break. You're doing beautifully. Life is short. Enjoy yourself!

But I hear ya...

I'm with Julie on this one.

Concentrate on the exercise, but don't spoil your vacation by worrying too much about counting calories. Sample some tasty stuff along with the healthy stuff, then add a few extra laps around the deck after dinner. (And cruise ship fitness centers have gotten a lot better over the years).

Have a great time!

Great advice Crabby and Julia. She's been stressing about this trip for so long though, I think she'll surprise herself with how much fun it's actually going to be. And trust me on this one, food isn't going to stop Molly from having fun. She's pretty much the life of any party!
And thanks for coming by, on a Saturday no less!

have no fear molly! i went on a cruise last year. my menu was a little boring and i had some treats here and there but this is mostly what i stuck to

breakfast:
ordered the night before and that would be our wakeup call. yummy & free room service. wheat toast, fruit, yogurt, and OJ

lunch:
went to the buffet but filled my entire plate with lettuce and pilled on healthy toppings and then maybe a few french fries on the side

snack:
nothing really, we were pretty busy. i had a frozen yogurt though

dinner:
fish or grilled chicken, veggies, glass of red wine

treats:
ice cream, french fries, and strawberry daquiri.

i wasn't a HUGE fan of the food so maybe that's why i didn't indulge but i only gained 3 lbs and it was gone within days, mostly water weight i'm thinking! have fun! that's so exciting :)
