My favorite pair of jeans, (size 10 classic bootcut 1969's from the Gap), are developing a saggy bottom. They went through the wash 3 days before this picture was taken. So, excitedly, I headed off to the mall last night to get the same pair in an 8. However, to my dismay, once I got in the dressing room I found they fit reeeeally tightly. I tried the 10's on again. OK, I'm postive these are too big. 8's. Mmmm, really tight. What what you do? I ventured out of the dressing room and walked over to two lovely Gap "sales associates."
Me: Ummm. Hiiiii. Could you tell me, and be100% honest, Are these too tight?
Them: NO!..NO!...no no no no. Not too tight.
Me: Even in my thighs? (I pointed to the sausage casings)
Them: Mmm, nope. Then the blond one said, "You know, for YOU, it's like, the bootcut doesn't fit like the bootcut."
Me: (slightly confused) Oh. Right. Ok. But what about all these lines under my bum. Don't those look kind of, I don't know, ...squeezy?
The blond: No way. Look. I've got them too. (She turned around to show me. hmm, she had them too, but hers looked not so uncomfortable.)
The brunette: And plus, they'll loosen up as you wear them.
Me: (She did have a point there. But that did imply I'd actually have to WEAR them out.)
The blond: And really, even if you were really thin, they'd still fit you like that.
Now, I know what she *meant* by that, but ouch.
Nevertheless, I was convinced and did end up buying the 8's. Good job ladies! So here's my saggy bottom 10's and the 8's. (They look a little better in the picture than in real life. I'm holding the muffin-top-ness in with my hands, but you'd be able to see it from the front. I just wish I could buy a size in between)

Love your blog!
Will add it to my bloglines now :)
I am so guilty of the baggy butt. I wear my pants too big. I just can't bring them home when they are tight in the store. Plus, I never trust the little madamouiselles they have in the Gap and elsewhere.
Your 8s look nice, but are they uncomfortable? For instance, I simply cannot stand wearing tight pants driving, with the seat belt and punching in the clutch and everything. Agggh!!! Horrible. I would rather be a baggy-butt.
Tight jeans + muffin top + seat belt + underwear + driving long distance = torture for me.
No man would ever suffer through tight pants and muffin top!
Cool blog. I'm on day three and loving it.
I think your blog is really cool. I'm completely impressed with how open you're being. (I mean pictures! wow! This among others has inspired me to start blogging my own weight loss journey. Wish me luck! and thanks for the inspiration!
I think we have problems kate. Clothes that touch my body tightly make me start to hyperventilate. I automatically feel like a sausage wrapped up. But when I ask you if something is too tight, you give me that ridiculous look like, "Are you KIDDING me? Go for a size smaller!" look.
Same thing little sis - the pants look awesome on your booty! I can just imagine Aarons little smirk on his face. That quiet smile that just says that he is so proud of you! Wahoo! Size 6 here you come! I just want to get there at the same time with you - so slow down!
My reward when I get to a size 6? Let me say it again - the Volcano Cake made by the professional chef himself!
I think they look super cute on your little bootie. And, I'm NOT just saying that. I always have those same issues too, I don't want to be the girl that everyone's like, "Yuck, those are WAY too tight." So, I hear ya, but they seriously look great!
Oh, those look GREAT on you.. not too tight at all...
And I just eased my way from a size 14 into a size 12, 1969 Original Bootcut, so I'm about to go purchase a pair of 10s as my "skinny jeans" for motivation. :-)
they DO bag out pretty fast, even just wearing 'em around the house.
Yep, I gotta say, they look great.
That's so cool to drop a size--the old ones are now clearly too big.
If the new ones don't get comfortable, though, you might have to start checking out other brands. I hate when that happens. But sometimes when I've gained or lost more than a couple pounds, the fit just doesn't work the same, even in the "right" size.
Anne, Thanks! I've been following yours since I started.
Julia, They ARE uncomfortable. However we've been home all day and I've been trying to wear them in a little bit. I've noticed a SLIGHT improvement. However, I think the answer is to keep plodding along with the weight loss rather than to stretch them out too much.
AND, you crack me up! I can totally relate to the torturous driving! Let's just say breathing has been a wee bit labored today and I've made sure we haven't gotten in the car more than twice.
Randi, Thanks! And being "open" is something we hope doesn't come back and bite us at family reunions! :) Good Luck, we'll come check you out.
Mol, yes. We do have many problems. However, thinking of you wrapped up like a sausage hyperventilating is making me laugh.
We'll be waiting over here with that volcano cake.
Chrissy, THanks. That actually does mean something coming from you! :)
Jessifer, I've noticed they have gotten every so slightly looser, even after just a day of wear. SO, are you going to post some pics for us?
Crabby, I've thought about that (changing brands). That's probably true that as my body changes maybe different styles are more flattering than what I'm used to.
Katie you are my hero!! I am think you are doing awesome, keep up the good work!!
Jessica? Is this the Jessica I think it is? :)
THanks!
nice ass :)
Nice comment but wait until you see my "a" - I'll smoke her! (Notice not the real word used - my mom reads this post who happens to be your aunt Leslie!)
What great motivation! Even if they are a bit snug now, could you have put them on one month ago?
Yes, Stephanie, I read every single comment on this blog.
First time on this blog..but have to say Great ASS in the 8's!! very motivational!!!
No baggy butt pants, they make people look yuck!
Crabby is right, it may just be a bad cut for your new body! You shouldn't feel uncomfortable in your jeans!
My friends and I all swear by www.zafu.com for finding new cuts and brands that fit. I've worn the recomended ones and they are my very favorite ever now.
illiah- Ohmygosh, thanks for that website! I just loaded it up and it looks awesome! Thanks for coming by! (you too frances)
See it's posts like this that we are all going to miss. You do what we all think. I've totally been there but would never have the guts to post it all and pictures (I have no ass so it really would not be worth it anyway).
AND how else are you going to find out about great sites to find jeans of you don't post about it and let your readers share a link?
COME BAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! (in my bestest most annoying whiney voice)
